Since 1872 this community minded, not for profit membership organisation has been delivering a wide range of pharmacy and health related products and services to over 11,500 household members throughout the Greater Bendigo Region.

The group consists of five Pharmacies, an Optical Store and a Day Spa which offers a range of benefits including discounts on products, access to health professionals, subsidised services, modern, contemporary and convenient retail facilities.

Note: Traineeships maybe offered to suitable students.

Skills You Might Learn

The student may also attain vital industry specific skills which will relate to their studies including:
• Hands-on practical experience
• Knowledge of pharmacy products and services
• Working with a range of people with diverse health care needs
• How to interpret and apply medical terminology appropriately
• Recognise healthy body systems
• Assist with an allied health program
• care and maintenance of equipment.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will be supervised by the Pharmacy Manager &/or Retail Coordinator and may have the opportunity to help customers with their healthcare needs, some of the tasks they may assist with include:
• Assisting customers with general queries
• Use pharmacy practices for infection control
• Assisting the dispensary with scripts in/out
• Filing of patient prescriptions
• Providing customers with information about products and services available to meet their needs

Student Requirements

Students should have a genuine interest in pharmacy and develop skills as part of their studies, be responsible, show initiative, maturity and have:
• Good communication skills
• Genuine interest in helping people and/or health
• Be motivated and organised
• An understanding on the importance of maintaining confidential information.
• Personal mobile phones are not required and should only be used out of work hours or on offsite meal breaks.

Dress Requirements

Students should wear neat casual attire e.g., long pants or skirt, top with sleeves and comfortable closed in shoes. If hair is longer than shoulder length it must be tied back.
