If you are looking for an Allied Health placement look no further! This SWL placement is suitable for year 11 and 12 students studying Allied Health and is located in Malmsbury. Whilst on placement students will gain real industry experience in a pharmacy / retail setting. Guided by the friendly team students will learn how to provide practical assistance, information and products to customers. They may also assist with dispensing prescriptions, blood pressure testing, dose administration aid service, prescription storage, stock control and providing professional customer service.
The team proudly hosts and supports students from Bendigo and Castlemaine.

There may be an opportunity to learn basic healthcare (e.g., blood pressure and sugar monitoring), care and maintenance of equipment, gain an insight into retail duties, and practice teamwork, time management and communication skills.
Typical Tasks & Duties
The primary role of the Pharmacy Assistant is to assist customers with their healthcare needs. Depending on the student’s ability some of the tasks they will assist with include:
• Assisting customers with general queries
• Replenishing stock and maintaining inventory levels
• Assisting the dispensary with scripts in/out
• Providing customers with information about products and services available to meet their needs
Student Requirements
Best suited to Year 11 or 12 VET students currently undertaking Cert II or III in Allied Health Assistance. Students should be outgoing with a focus on customer services and a strong work ethic. They should be reliable, responsible, show initiative and a level of maturity.
This employer requires all students to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Dress Requirements
Students should wear neat casual attire, suitable for a professional workplace.
This includes neat hair (tied back), closed comfortable shoes, and clean well-presented clothes (no logos or tears). Jewlery should be discreet and not present a safety hazard.
Special Transport Requirements
Students travelling from Bendigo can travel via bus or train (approx. 38 mins), from Castlemaine via bus or train (approx. 12-15 mins).
