Bayford provide their customers with comprehensive car servicing and all mechanical repairs. They offer a range of value-adding benefits on all new, used and demo vehicles, along with unbeatable Customer Service standards. Bayford pride themselves on skill enhancement for young people coming through their training department. Joe is a dedicated Training Coordinator who works with young people undertaking apprenticeships and SWL placements. Bayford will offer 2 Year 12 placements per site. These sites include Epping (356 Cooper Street, Epping), Bundoora (475 Grimshaw Street, Bundoora) and Coburg (683 Sydney Road, Coburg). In addition, Bayford will accept 1 Year 11 student per site, as well as 1 Year 10 student per site.

Bayford will stagger the placements to ensure students receive appropriate supervision, are gainfully occupied, and avoid any overlapping.

All students will initially take a block placement for 10 working days. If Bayford are happy with their commitment and performance, students will continue with their placement on a 1 day per week for 10 weeks basis, and if this proves successful, they will continue with the placement for the rest of the Calendar Year.

Year 12 students who complete their full-year placement successfully and have proven their commitment, they may be offered a full-time apprenticeship the following year.

Year 11 students leaving school at the end of the year and have successfully completed their full-year placement and have proven their commitment, they may also be offered a full time apprenticeship the following year.

Year 10 students who have successfully completed their placement and continue to be committed; they may be offered a placement again the following year on a 1 day per week basis.

Skills You Might Learn

Application of safe working practices. Remove and replace wheel and tyre assemblies. Use and maintenance of specific tools. General car service and repair, oil change etc. Use of measuring equipment.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will be working closely with the senior technician at the respective sites. The first day will be spent doing basic mechanical tasks and a little cleaning up of tools and the workshop in general. They will also learn general car servicing and maintenance.

Student Requirements

Students are required to be punctual, 8am start, finsih at 4:30pm, basic workshop hours.

Dress Requirements

Steel capped boots. Protective clothing.

10 minute walk up Cooper street from the Epping Train Station. Bayford is located directly opposite the Epping Plaza on Cooper St. for access to the Bundoora or Coburg sites please refer to https://www.ptv.vic.gov.au/
