Situated in Golden Square this is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience at middle sized child care centre.

All of the rooms from the Nursery to Kindergarten and Preschool are set up in line with an Early Years Learning Framework, including sensory and play based learning opportunities. Colourful, stimulating surrounds ensure the children have the chance to grow and develop through sensory, play-based learning and an emergent curriculum.

Outside there are age appropriate play spaces and equipment, all geared to enhance the children’s awareness of their surrounds and the greater environment, as well as their understanding of the importance of sustainability. The three playground areas feature sandpits, herb gardens, vegetable patch, a fort, fruit trees, mud kitchen and lots of shaded play area.

The team of Early Childhood Educators are passionate, caring, and talented educators who pride themselves on implementing engaging and holistic programs that meet the needs of the children in their care.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will work with children across a range of ages in a childcare setting and will be supported by qualified and experienced educators. There will be a broad range of tasks and duties you will be required to undertake which will contribute to developing your skills and knowledge in early childhood education and care and will work towards you developing your competencies for your qualification. During your placement, you may undertake the following: -Assist with activities and programs. Read to children and assist in maintaining a clean environment. Work with children to create a painting, story or creative item. Prepare food if appropriately qualified (i.e., Food Handlers) Assist in feeding children and nappy changing. Follow policies and procedures for allergy management. Follow polices in regard to sun safety for children. Be aware of how to deal with problem behaviours and maintain a hygienic workplace.

Student Requirements

Students should have good communication and people skills, be motivated and have the ability to use their own initiative. A willingness to learn, work independently and as part of a team, be responsible, supportive and caring attitude. And finally, be accommodating to different personalities and abilities.
Personal mobile phones are not required and should only be used out of work hours or on meal breaks.

Dress Requirements

Black pants and sleeved top, closed toe shoes (no dangly jewellery or branded clothes with slogans).
