This placement will provide students with valuable 'hands-on experience' and the opportunity to learn from experienced industry professionals.
Students will have the opportunity to attain a broad range of skills while on SWL placement. These skills include valuable general employability skills in communication, teamwork, problem solving, planning and technology.
Students may also attain vital industry specific skills which will relate to their studies including:
• Working in real-life scenarios and environments
• Working with tools and equipment necessary to the occupation and business
• Liaising and working with colleagues, supervisors, customers/clients and suppliers
• Occupational health and safety practices.
Typical Tasks & Duties
As a Parts Interpreter assistant you will work with the team who provide exceptional customer service and parts support to O'Connor's customers and the service department. You will learn to source and identify parts using electronic catalogues, manuals and data bases. You will also develop skills to allow you to promote and sell machinery parts and related products.
Typical tasks and duties may include: greeting customers, answering enquiries, searching data bases, order and quote, assisting with freight inwards and outwards, maintaining a safe and tidy work area.
Tasks and duties
• Identify the make, model and variation of farm motor vehicles and automotive equipment.
• Identify and source required parts.
• Process payments and discounts for parts.
• Collect, pack and send out parts.
• Check, price and catalogue parts on storage racks. .
Student Requirements
Students will:

Dress Requirements
Closed toe, nonslip shoes.
Steel capped safety boots.
Workwear appropriate for the workplace.
Neat casual attire
Minimal jewellery and long hair tied back for safety purposes.
Special Transport Requirements
No specific transport arrangements available. Students must organise their own transport, to and from the workplace.
