Are you looking to find a community services placement in a community house that runs a range of supportive programs to the local community? Then Moy-Yan Neighbourhood House is the place for you to start your career in Community Services! Moy-Yan Neighbourhood House supports the local community by responding to the needs of its participants. With a small team of staff and volunteers they run a Food Bank twice weekly supporting approximately 100 people in the area. They also provide support to senior citizens with a range of activities, including computer skills and connections with family and friends through social media. There has been a change of leadership so many of the programs are starting afresh, including a Women's Shed with building, sculpture and art projects students can contribute to in the near future.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will be engaging with participants through the Food Bank program run out of Moy-Yan house on a Wednesday and Thursday. Students will help with the process and activities associated with the food bank and connecting assisting visitors with information about the services and activities available through Moy-Yan Neighbourhood House and the local area. Opportunities will be available to assist with other programs as they are added throughout the year.

Student Requirements

You will be required to be supportive, respectful and friendly, able to communicate with a range of participants, particularly senior clientele. * This is a not-for-profit organisation so will not provide payment

Dress Requirements

Neat casual, closed toe shoes and no tank tops
