VITICULTURE PLACEMENT AT PARINGA ESTATE

Do you have an interest in or are you studying Horticulture or Agriculture? Then you could be part of the next crop!

This placement is an ideal way to experience working in the wine making industry. Viticulture is the science around growing grapes and work with the environment in the vineyard.

You will gain valuable, practical, real-world experience in a productive vineyard, learning about different grape varieties, pest management, irrigation and harvesting of grapes.

Located in Red Hill South, Paringa Estate is a family run vineyard which creates beautifully crafted and award winning wines including Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Riesling, Shiraz and Viognier.

Typical Tasks & Duties

During your placement, you may undertake the following:

- Stack, store and inventory of materials
- Practical hands on work
- Use hand & garden tools
- Develop further knowledge about vines and land management
- Caring for vines by watering, weeding, pruning, feeding and spraying
- Be involved in vine maintenance and cutting, removing dead growth and branches
- Work in a team and also independently
- Perform general tidying
- Be involved in labouring, given suitable supervision.
- Observe OH&S procedures on site
- Clean site equipment under supervision
- Apply safe handling and use of plant and power tools

Student Requirements

Students are to have a genuine interest in agriculture or horticulture and be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Students are to adhere to the employers OHS procedures and COVID Safe practices. Students on placement are required to be fully
COVID-19 vaccinated. This is a mandated requirement for the essential workers in agriculture (including viticulture).

Dress Requirements

Appropriate work uniform and footwear will be required for this placement, please check with the employer PRIOR to the placement commencement about what you are to wear.


Special Transport Requirements

Students are to arrange own transport to and from the employer.
