Skills You Might Learn
The student undertaking this opportunity will be enhancing the skills and knowledge that they are learning in their VETiS program. This may include; OH&S specific skills, hand and power tools, calculations for the building trade, how to read a plan, site preparation, communication skills, working within a team, setting out, framing, and scaffolding.
Typical Tasks & Duties
The student will be assisting MD Carpentry with house framing. This may include setting out, framing, scaffolding, use of hand and power tools (under supervision), site clean-ups and building calculations. The student will be required to follow worksite procedures and assist with keeping a clean and tidy work area at all times.
The student is expected to:

- have good communication skills
- ask questions when needed to ensure understanding
- maintain safe practice at all times.
The student must wear protective clothing, safety footwear (steel cap boots), ear and eye protection, hat and sunscreen.
