This placement is in the Kerang Neighbourhood House or Opportunity Shop. Students assist with volunteering roles within the organisation. Assist with the presentation and sale of clothing and homewares. Staff at the Neighbourhood House and Thrift shop are often volunteers and are very friendly. Management is also very positive about the Work Experience and SWL program in general.
Students who enjoy being part of a team and assisting others, should consider doing a placement with this non for profit community organisation.

Skills You Might Learn

Students will gain some hands-on practical experience while assisting staff. Their communication and time management skills will be improved by their experiences. The students will be working in real-life scenarios in a real life environment.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will work with staff to assist them in their duties in relation to the helping community needs and ensuring the house and opportunity store are kept tidy and items are ready for sale. Students will be required to be an active participant in all workplace practices while being supervised by staff.

Student Requirements

The students must have completed the OH&S module in WRS VM or else have begun the OH&S module in the relevant VET course.

Dress Requirements

Students are to wear neat casual dress appropriate for the work place.

Special Transport Requirements

Students may need to organise their own transport to work.
