Skills You Might Learn
During your placement, you may undertake the following:
- Stack, store general organisation and inventory of materials
- Learn about and observe the quotation/estimating process
- Learn more about reading and interpreting technical drawings
- Loading and unloading materials and tools into work vehicles and sites
- Use hand tools
- Perform basic carpentry tasks
- Labour for trades on site, given suitable supervision
- Learn to be part of the team while observing and using OH&S policies & procedures pertinent to the work place.
- Clean site equipment under supervision
- Apply safe handling and use of plant and power tools
- Organise, materials, stock and equipment
- Customer Service skills
- Develop good organizational skills, eg maintain a clean and tidy work site
Typical Tasks & Duties
Students will gain hands-on experience across many aspects of the business. This placement will provide you with a range of opportunities to develop your skills while working alongside experienced industry tradespeople.
