Skills You Might Learn

In addition to industry specific skills related to your VET course, such as infection control, introduction to specialised equipment, you will also have the opportunity to develop work related skills, i.e., problem solving, time management, team work and use of technology.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Depending on what area of dentistry you are interested in will determine the tasks and duties. For example, as a dental assistant your number one priority to maintain strict infection control procedures. You may also be working with staff adhering to strict sterilisation controls, changing over rooms, process reusable medical devices and equipment and cleaning at the end of each shift. The role also includes assisting with practice administration and supporting quality and professionalism in the dental sector.

Student Requirements

To be successful in this role you must have a genuine interest in dentistry.
You must be cheerful with great interpersonal skills and show quick response when required.
You must also understand the importance of infection control and ways to mitigate risks.

Dress Requirements

Black pants, closed toe shoes – no nail polish, hair tied back, no watches or jewellery below the elbow, no dangle and drop earrings (studs earrings ok) . (Scrubs top can be provided).

Special Transport Requirements

Close to Upfield Rail Line and No.19 Tram line
