Early Childhood Educator

If you are undertaking a Certificate III In Early Childhood Education and Care qualification, this placement will be ideal to contribute to your practical placement hours. You will have the opportunity to work with experienced Early Childhood Educators who have a wealth of experience in developing quality early childhood educational programs. These play-based programs are built on the individual needs and interests of the child, with a multitude of learning experiences designed to inspire, promote curiosity and build the foundations for future learning.
Skills You Might Learn
Students will work with children from a variety of ages and will be supported by experienced educators. There will be a broad range of tasks and duties you will be required to undertake which will contribute to developing your skills and knowledge in early childhood education and care. During your placement, you may undertake the following:
- Develop an understanding of children’s interests and developmental needs
- Provide experiences to support children’s play and learning
- Work effectively with families to care for the child
- Support the development of children
- Assist with activities and programs
- Read to children
- Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment
- Work with children to create a painting, story or creative item.
- Investigate procedures for allergy management
- Investigate procedures for dealing with problem behaviours
- Research policy on sun safety
- Research policies/strategies used to ensure child safety and security
- Research and identify signs and symptoms of common childhood illnesses
- Observe/record children’s developmental milestones
- Research strategies used to manage and maintain hygiene.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Students will work with a variety of aged children and will be supported by experienced educators. There will be a broad range of tasks and duties you will be required to undertake which will contribute to developing your skills and knowledge in early childhood education and care and much more.
Volunteering within the 14 place childcare centre.
Supporting activities such as room set up and supporting families that attend playgroup.
Supporting work in the front office.
Greeting people that come the the centre & registering attendances & payments. Taking phone calls.
Working with social enterprise, such as the Coffee Cart.
Supporting social media work. Using Mailchimp, Instagram, Facebook and the website.
Project work around a particular activity, such as developing a walking map for a walking group.

Special Transport Requirements
Student is to arrange own transport to and from the employer. Close to public transport.
