An exciting opportunity exists for a Structured Workplace Learning placement with this family owned and operated Agribusiness situated in Rochester. You will work alongside the owners of the property with opportunities to learn all aspects of livestock handling and animal husbandry. The successful applicant will also have the chance to network with farming professionals and experience pasture management and broad acre cropping. If you are motivated and enthusiastic about learning from some of the best in the industry, this placement is for you!

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will assist trained staff in performing duties with students receiving high level supervision. Students could be involved in basic domestic staff duties, assisting with feeding livestock, care for health and welfare of livestock, moving and drafting livestock and other general farm tasks such as mechanical and machinery operations and farm maintenance.

Student Requirements

Students are encouraged to consider a Structured Workplace Learning placement to develop skills learned from their Work-Related Skills subject. The following requirements must be met;
Students must have a willingness to learn and be able to follow instructions carefully and competently
Students must be willing to communicate clearly and work as a productive team member
Students must enjoy outdoor practical work and be comfortable working with machinery and animals

Dress Requirements

Students will need to wear long pants and shirts and protective boots. Wet weather gear will be needed in wetter months. A hat and sunscreen are essential for working outdoors.
