This is a fantastic SWL opportunity for students to learn more about the nursery industry and gain fantastic experience.

Skills You Might Learn

Students will gain insight into the horticultural industry which will include recognition and identification of different plant types, understanding the different types of soil, get an understanding of the wholesale plant production processes, develop the knowledge and skills they have gained in their VET course. Students will participate in OHS processes and environmentally sustainable work practices.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students tasks may include potting up, propagation, labelling, dispatch, plant maintenance including pruning weeding and general care. Maintaining plant health and growing conditions including weeding, watering, cleaning, pest identification, preparing and packing plants for customer orders and other associated duties. Students will have an opportunity to work in various areas within the nursery.

Dress Requirements

Students to wear comfortable closed toed shoes or boots, suitable clothes for weather conditionst. Hats to be worn in summer as this work place is a sun smart work place. No headphones
