Blakes Feast is Melbourne's premier boutique catering company located in Glen Iris. They specialise on catering events as well as creating delicious prepared meals with delivery across the city.

They are happy to host students studying a certificate in Hospitality looking to develop their BOH skills.

Placements are available throughout the school year and are 5 days long, potentially extending if both parties agree.

This placement could align with your Certificate II in Hospitality/Kitchen Operations via the following Units of Competency:
SITXWHS001 Participate in safe work practices
BSBTWK201 Work effectively with others
SITXFSA001 Use hygienic practices for food safety

Students completing a placement here have the potential to gain: developed knowledge of how a kitchen operates, teamwork, communication, inventory control, food safety, food preparation, food presentation, food storage, initiative and time management skills.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students completing a placement here can expect to carry out kitchen operations including food preparation, inventory/stock control, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment. Students will be expected to work at a commercial facility working with the team to prepare meals.

Student Requirements

Students should have an interest in working in a kitchen, as well as an enthusiastic and willing-to-learn approach. They should also be punctual, have neat appropriate presentation, and a polite manner.

Dress Requirements

Chef Uniform if you have, if not - discuss it with the employer during the meet and greet.

Attendance: Dates and times are to be negotiated when arranging placement. Standard day is 9 am to 4 pm. For 1 day per week Placements - placements should only be for a maximum of 5 weeks. A student can seek another 5 weeks (20 weeks maximum, as per guidelines) should both the student and employer agree after the commencement of the first placement.
