Skills You Might Learn

Students will gain an understanding of and develop the basic skills related to working in the Automotive Retail, Service and Repair Industry in Light Vehicle Mechanical.

Students will learn to work in a team, communicate effectively in the workplace, be punctual at all times, present at work in appropriate work attire, follow instructions, complete work with a good eye for detail and adhere to OH&S requirements at the work site.

Typical Tasks & Duties

The student will observe and spend time under the direct supervision of experienced and qualified Automotive Light Vehicle Mechanics assisting with general light vehicle mechanic tasks and duties.

The student may assist to prepare for daily activities, safely manual handle automotive materials, basic hand tools and equipment, safely use basic automotive hand tools, clean and maintain the work area and apply OH&S requirements for an automotive workplace in the Automotive Retail, Service and Repair Industry.

Student Requirements

Whilst the student is attending the work experience placement they are expected to:
• Show a genuine interest in Automotive Retail, Service and Repair Industry in Light Vehicle Mechanical.
• Be willing to observe, listen and learn while working in a team.

Dress Requirements

The student will be required to present in the following work attire at all times;
• Work boots with steel caps.
• Work pants/overalls.
• Work shirt.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to the tasks and duties carried out by the student, will be supplied by the Host Employer

Special Transport Requirements

Student to arrange own transport to and from work.
