Specializing in all makes and models of forklifts, electric forklifts qualified technicians can deal with any type of forklifts from routine maintenance to emergency on site repairs. There is potential for an apprenticeship for the right student.
Skills You Might Learn
Some of the skills you may learn are: fault diagnosis and repair, electronic circuit board repairs, welding, repairing mechanical and electrical hydraulics and possibly some transmission and engine rebuilds. The majority of work is electrical based.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Assisting supervisor with a variety of repairs to forklifts on site and some office site work will be required. The majority of repairs are electrical systems, diagnosis of problems, welding and soldering, connecting with customers and general duties associated with working in a workshop. The employer is supportive of hands on practical work as well as practical lessons, particularly regarding electronics.
A willingness to apply yourself and interest in the trade. Must be able to present well to customers, good communication skills, able to work well as part of a team and follow instructions. No facial piercings and jewellery. The employer is keen to learn of a project you may have been working on and would like to share, either bring it in to show or if you have a written description you may like to bring along to interview. (NOTE - this is not essential or a requirement of the placement )
Suitable clothing for factory work. No baggy clothing or jewellery. When assisting supervisor on visit to clients, discuss appropriate clothing requirements.
Special Transport Requirements
Some work will be off site in Metropolitan Melbourne, discuss transport with employer
