Skills You Might Learn

Student will gain skills and knowledge into basic building and construction tasks and duties such as following instructions, reading plans, setting up sites for a day's work, loading and storing equipment. How to handle power tools, operate construction machinery, and learn on the Job OH&S standards wil be all part of the experience.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Student will be expected to assist the qualified staff to unload, carry and stack building materials. Place and store equipment and tools. Dig trenches using hand tools or Jack hammers, break up rock and concrete, help to erect and dismantle scaffolding, ramps , barricades and warning signs. Mix pour and spread concrete under supervision.

Student Requirements

To work in the construction industry the student needs to be able to cope with the physical demands of the job. Enjoy practical and outdoors work. Able to follow instructions and work with the team. Able to work in a consist and constant pace.

Dress Requirements

Full trade gear is required. Workboots .

Special Transport Requirements

Student will need to be able to get to Model Lane Port Fairy on day of placement .
