Warrnambool and District Food Share Inc, forms part of a network of Food Shares across the state that have been created, facilitated and supported by FoodBank Victoria.Food Share is managed by a voluntary Board of directors who employ a part-time Executive Officer to run the Food Share service with our partner welfare agencies that provide emergency relief to vulnerable people across south-west Victoria.This opportunity at Food Share is for a student who has an interest in logistics and warehousing with an understanding of developing skills and knowledge of how this non for profit organisation works and the benefits FoodShare offer to our community.

Skills You Might Learn

The student will attain skills to assist working in a team environment and working to a time frame. Also working with people from different backgrounds and building relationships to assist with the smooth running of the Food Share operations.

Typical Tasks & Duties

The student will assist the volunteers collect food donations from local supermarkets and other food shops.This food is made into hampers with the help of the student and distribute to the agencies that assist people with food relief including the elderly, unemployed, low income and vulnerable families. The student will be expected to follow directions from the trained volunteers, keep the workplace clean and tidy and lift and carry hampers to the collection cars.

Student Requirements

The student will need to be able to attend the training sessions run by Food Share to have a understanding of how Food Share works, be fit and agile and willing to work with people from a broad spectrum of the population.

Dress Requirements

Sturdy shoes and casual clothes are required

Special Transport Requirements

Student will need to make own way to the work placement.
