They have a range of feed and nutrient products plus rider accessories including shirts, socks, spurs, vests, wet weather gear, whips, stable and grooming requirements. They also have a knowledge of the available activities in the district for those wanting to participate in the variety of events in which keen horse riders can be involved.

Skills You Might Learn

The student will develop communication skills to work with both customers and the workplace team. The student will need to have good organisational skills and an eye for detail to support the presentation of stock. Part of the learning process will be exploring the skills in using technology at point of sale and stock tracking.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will interact with customers and apply point of sale handling procedures. They will organise and maintain work areas, communicate with the work team and operate any retail technology. They will replenish stock supplies in the retail area and warehouse. They will develop skills in computing, customer service and quality procedures.Students will apply safe working practices.

Student Requirements

It would be beneficial if the students have an interest in and knowledge of the equine industry. An understanding of equipment , feed and health supplies for the equine industry would be advantageous. Have the ability to communicate well with customers.

Dress Requirements

Customer service is key to this role so students must present in a neat, clean manner to suit the clientèle.

Special Transport Requirements

The student will need to arrange their own transport to and from work.
