Skills You Might Learn

The student will apply environmental and sustainability best practice in a mechanical workplace. Work in a retail bicycle environment, assemble box bicycles for retail sale, service and repair bicycle mechanical breaking systems, service all bicycle systems.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students may perform the following tasks 1. Speak with customers. 2 Assemble packaged bicycles ready for sale. 3. Inspect, repair and service customers bicycles. 4. fabricate components and equipment. 5. Diagnose faults and road test bicycles before and after performing mechanical procedures. 6. Perform various retail functions, including maintenance of stock control systems and shop presentation.

Student Requirements

Students must have a keen interest in working in the bicycle industry and in working with many different types of customers, all ages and abilities. The student must contact the shop prior to the placement to organise an interview and must bring a resume. Students must be well presented to work both in the shop and in the service centre.
