Skills You Might Learn

It will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to become a support worker within a range of educational settings. You will learn how to: support students with literacy and numeracy skills, and cater for the different learning styles. Learn to work within a small team, and follow safe work practices.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Possible student tasks and duties may include:

-classroom observation
-working with small groups of students with a focus on a particular topic
-supporting children with a range of needs in the classroom
-mentoring students
-preparing activites
- Assisting with various admin tasks
-connecting with and devlopling meaningful relationships with students, families and staff

Student Requirements

This placement is best suited to a VCAL students interested in working in a Primary School setting. A warm, friendly and motivated personality is preferred, along with a strong desire to actively engage with children and work in the education industry.
