This placement is in a very successful joinery business. It has an excellent track record in serving the Swan Hill region and recently moved to a new workshop facility equipped with the latest technology in this field. The staff are friendly and helpful and management is very supportive of the SWL program. Enthusiastic students will gain from meaningful learning experiences.

Skills You Might Learn

The student will have hands-on practical experience as well as observe and learn from industry qualified and experienced professionals. This means they have the opportunity to learn how to work with tools and equipment used in joinery while observing the various stages of cabinet making.

Typical Tasks & Duties

The student will be expected to be an active participant in all workplace practices. They will work with other employees to assist them in their roles. Students will interact with work colleagues and work as part of a team. Students will assist with maintaining a safe and tidy workplace.

Student Requirements

The students must have completed the OH&S module in WRS VCAL or else have begun the OH&S module in the relevant VET course.

Dress Requirements

Students are to wear neat casual dress appropriate for the work place plus sturdy footwear.

Special Transport Requirements

Students will need to organise their own transport to work which is located in the industrial estate in Swan Hill west.
