This is a locally owned and run truck repair workshop with a long history of taking student placements. It is a busy workplace where students will gain skills and experience on the workshop floor. The business has a history where work placement students have gone on to become apprentices.

Skills You Might Learn

Students will learn a range of basic mechanical servicing techniques under close supervision. They will also be expected to be an active participant in all workplace practices.

Typical Tasks & Duties

This position will include duties around heavy vehicles, either servicing or repair of all makes of trucks. As well as assisting with basic vehicle servicing students will be expected to carry out general workshop tidying and maintenance of workshop equipment and hand tools.

Student Requirements

The student must have completed the OH&S module in WRS VCAL or else have begun the OH&S module in the relevant VET course.

Dress Requirements

Students will wear neat casual clothing suited to the workplace plus work boots.

Special Transport Requirements

There is no public transport so students make their own way to the workplace.
