Swan Hill Rural City Council
This opportunity is with the Information and Technology Department at SHRCC. It provides a range of services directly to Council staff. These services cover the support of desktop computers, servers, telephone systems and computer networks. Students with an interest in I.T. will gain a lot from this placement and shouldn't hesitate to apply. The staff are supportive of the SWL program.
Skills You Might Learn
Students will have the opportunity to strengthen their employability skills with this placement. Having to operate as part of a team, using workplace communication skills, managing their own time, planning and using initiative and enterprise are all important skills for this opportunity.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Tasks for students will be around assisting staff in the areas of desktop service , network support, wireless configuration, software installation and general problem solving. Helping with PC rollouts and operating systems may also be part of a students working day.
Student Requirements
The student must have completed the OH&S module in WRS VCAL or else have begun the OH&S module in the relevant VET course.
Dress Requirements
Students are to wear neat casual dress appropriate for the work place.
Special Transport Requirements
Students will need to organise their own transport to work but there is a town bus service.
