Located conveniently on the grounds of Horsham 298 Primary School, we deliver a holistic and child-centred approach to care and education that caters to children aged eight weeks to 12 years. After School Care is a terrific solution for busy families and provides a fun, friendly and relaxed environment for children to grow and learn.
We cater to the needs of all children and offer a range of enjoyable activities including:
Sports, ball games and team games
Arts and crafts
Cooking
Creative and expressive arts such as drama, singing and dancing
Board games and puzzles
Homework time
Gardening and recycling.
We also provide a nutritious afternoon tea, to refuel children after a busy school day.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Assist with activities and programs, including ball games, arts and crafts, cooking, creative and expressive arts such as drama, singing and dancing, board games and puzzles, homework time, gardening and recycling.

Follow polices and procedures for allergy management. Follow polices in regards of sun safety for clients. Be aware of how to deal problem behaviours. Maintain a hygienic workplace.

Student Requirements

The student must be studying VET Community Services.The student will need to apply for a Working with Children check.Communication skills - Attention to detail - Motivated and organised - Ability to use own initiative - Willingness to learn - Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. - Responsible, supportive and caring attitude - Good people skills - Accommodating to different personalities and abilities.
Must have a criminal check as you cannot do work placement without it, please keep in mind that it can take up to 6 weeks to obtain a criminal check. These can be applied for through the YMCA. If you are over 18, you must also have a Working with Children (employment not volunteer).

Dress Requirements

Dress requirements during placements are neat, tidy, suitable and safe for the particular work environment. Discreet jewellery, long hair tied back, closed toe shoes, dress suited to working with children, to be discussed at interview.

Special Transport Requirements

Students will need to find their own transport
