Secure your SWL Placement for 2017 with Jeparit Kindergarten and learn from dedicated, experienced and knowledgeable early childhood educators. You will be assisting the Pre-school teacher in the kindergarten. The kindergarten incorporates both indoor and outdoor facilities for activity based learning activities.
Skills You Might Learn
Students may have the opportunity to develop skills relating to the supervision of young children,. Students will also receive insight and knowledge relating to childcare policies and procedures. During this placement students will gain experience of working within a team

Typical Tasks & Duties
All duties related to Pre School including setting up play areas, setting up and supporting children with art and craft activities, assisting lunchtime and snack time routines, supporting children in creative play activities and cleaning duties. There will also be packing up duties.
Follow policies and procedures for allergy management. Follow polices in regards of sun safety for clients. Be aware of how to deal problem behaviours. Maintain a hygienic workplace.
Student must be studying VET Community Services. Students must have a keen interest to work within the industry and a willingness to learn. Students must be willing to follow instructions and work within a team.
Communication skills, assisting children to play in a supportive environment. Students will learn how to support children in a nurturing and inclusive manner. Student will also gain employability skills including how to take direction, working as part of a small team and dressing in an appropriate manner for a childcare environment.

Students 18 or over will need to apply for a volunteer Working with Children and Police Check.
Dress requirements during placements are neat, tidy, suitable and safe for the particular work environment. Discreet jewellery, long hair tied back, closed toe shoes, dress suited to working with children, to be discussed at interview.
