This opportunity is with the Community and Cultural services Department working specifically in the Aged and Disability Services area. This service aims to assist frail, aged, and people with disabilities to maintain their independence and quality of life while remaining in their own homes. Students will have the opportunity to strengthen their employability skills with this placement. Having to operate as part of a team, using workplace communication skills, managing their own time, planning and using initiative and enterprise are all important skills for this opportunity.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Some of the duties students will perform are assisting with meals on wheels, participating in social activities, community visits and helping with administrative tasks. Students may also attend agency meetings to gain greater insight into how the various services are coordinated.

Student Requirements

The student must have completed the OH&S module in WRS VCAL or else have begun the OH&S module in the relevant VET course.

Dress Requirements

Students are to wear neat casual dress appropriate for the work place.

Special Transport Requirements

Students will need to organise their own transport to work but there is a town bus service.
