Discovery Community Care
A community services organisation in Lilydale, run largely by volunteers, is offering a SWL opportunity . Clients attending the centre are assisted in accessing information, services, advice and emergency relief in order to improve their quality of life. Students undertaking a course in Community Services will be suited to this placements.
Skills You Might Learn
Students may have opportunities to prepare for work in the community sector, communicate with people accessing the services of the organisation, work in a team, follow policies, procedures and programs, and observe community services professionals in order to gain a better understanding of the industry.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Students will work to assist volunteers in performing their roles, with tasks including the provision of services, sorting of goods such as food and, where appropriate, limited client interaction. Some administration tasks will also be undertaken. The nature of a student's role will vary depending on each young person's level of comfort in this sensitive environment.

Modest, practical attire. Flat/low shoes as it will frequently be necessary to use stairs.
