The Kingston Family and Children’s Centre in Edithvale offers state-of-the-art facilities including four early years rooms, a central kitchen and a large outdoor areas on both ground and first floors of the center providing panoramic views of the surrounding sports fields and wetlands. The learning spaces encourage imaginative and active play and education, with equipment and resources that promote the development of new skills and expansive natural gardens that include a range of vegetation and native trees.

Skills You Might Learn

Students may have the opportunity to develop skills relating to the supervision of young children,. Students will also receive insight and knowledge relating to childcare policies and procedures. During this placement students will gain experience of working within a team.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will have the opportunity to support child care staff with every day tasks such as supervising children in care and general cleaning. Students will experience a great introduction in to this Early Childhood and Education Industry.

Student Requirements

Students 18 and over need to have a Working With Childrens Check.
All students need to complete an application form to apply for placement. Please email Laura Vandersluys at swl@bgkllen.org.au for a copy of the form.

Students are required to prepare and provide a photograph and introduction A4 poster introducing themselves, briefly outlining their course placement and where they are studying. The Poster will be displayed at the front of each early years room where the placement is being undertaken.

Students must be willing to work with young children. Students must have a keen interest to work within the industry and a willingness to learn. Students must be willing to follow instructions and work within a team.

Students are required to get to and from the workplace via their own means.
